Things to Do in Omaha in the Winter

Holiday Market at Aksarben Village (Dec. 1 – Dec. 2)

In the mood for a little holiday shopping? Head down to the city’s German-inspired outdoor market, the Holiday Market at Aksarben Village. There will be over 55 vendors in attendance, offering a large selection of gourmet jams and jellies, cheeses and baked goods, jewelry, arts and crafts, and more. The event takes place from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is located at 67th and Center Streets in Omaha, NE. Admission is free.

Christmas at Union Station (Nov. 27 – Jan. 6)

Throughout the winter, the Durham Museum puts on several fun events. Check out the Holiday Cultural Trees Exhibit to explore beautiful decorations and traditions from various cultures. Or come to Family Night with Santa, where kids can meet Santa and his reindeer and take part in exciting themed activities. Later on in the season, kids can attend the museum’s Noon Year’s Eve celebration, where there’ll be special crafts and activities to ring in the New Year. The museum is located at 801 S 10th Street in Omaha, NE.

Holiday Concerts

There’s no better way to feel the magic of the season than with a concert or play. Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, Lindsey Stirling’s The Wonderland Tour, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, and Cirque Musica Holiday Presents: Wonderland are all coming to Omaha this winter. 33rd Annual Gingerbread Festival (Nov. 27 – Dec. 31)

The holiday season just wouldn’t be complete without some sweet treats. Returning for its 33rd year, the Annual Gingerbread Festival showcases over 150 delicious gingerbread and candy displays. Holiday trees, live music, movies, and scavenger hunts provide entertainment for the whole family. The festival takes place at the Mormon Trail Center at 3215 State Street in Omaha, NE, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Admission is free.
